Hosted by Leah Phillips, lung cancer patient and co-founder of the Young Lung Cancer Initiative, this episode spotlights Stephen Huff, who was diagnosed with Stage IV, ALK Positive NSCLC in 2018 at the young age of 29. Stephen knew very little about lung cancer when he was diagnosed since he was healthy, young, and had no history of smoking. He chose to use his journey to make a big impact on lung cancer awareness and funding by starting his own non-profit called, The Huff Project. He was the face of young lung cancer before there was even such a term and has been a powerful force in advocacy and inspiration to many in his path. In this heartfelt discussion, Leah and Stephen dive into his early emotions surrounding his diagnosis, his recent engagement to his now wife, Emily, and their decisions regarding fertility. Stephen shares what it has felt like to see his dreams of becoming a husband and father come true! Stage 4 cancer diagnosis was the LAST thing I expected
One year ago today a MRI revealed tumors in Lexi’s leg and hip. A bone biopsy and biomarker test confirmed it was Stage 4 lung cancer -NSCLC (EXON 20 insertion). The day was horrible, scary, and earth shattering… to say the least. While not everyone may want to celebrate their cancerversary, Lexi has chosen to reframe the day to find joy and hope. On Veteran's and Remembrance Day around the world, we are grateful for the service of men and women who protect our freedoms. Like Bernie, living with stage 4 lung cancer. We also recognize that some of our veterans' sacrifices extend beyond their service. Lung cancer can be one of those – as veterans are at a significantly higher risk due to exposure to harmful toxins during their service. As we pause to remember their sacrifices, let’s also commit to supporting lung cancer research and advocacy, so we can give our veterans a fighting chance. #BecauseofResearch #LCAM
