Lung cancer is on the rise in young adults aged 50 and under and many of the causes, influences, and reasons behind this expanding patient demographic are still unknow. More research is needed to help patients who do not currently qualify for early detection screening due to a lack of a heavy smoking history.
For the majority of young adults, a disease like lung cancer comes as a complete shock because most never even knew they were at risk. They do not qualify for early detection screening, so a high percentage of patients are diagnosed after the disease has already spread to other parts of the body and there is no cure. As team members with our own lung cancer stories, we understand from personal experience the extreme burden this diagnosis takes on younger patients in the prime of their lives. Our passion is providing them a space to speak their truth about their experiences and seek the tools they need to embrace this journey equipped to advocate for themselves and their loved ones.
